LAgo DEl LISCIA

Lake Liscia is an artificial lake in Gallura, northern Sardinia, located between the municipalities of Sant’Antonio di Gallura, Luras, Arzachena, Calangianus and Luogosanto.

It originates in the damming of the Liscia river and other minor streams by means of a 69-metre high gravity dam, completed in 1962. The maximum capacity of the reservoir is 105 million m3, but this was only actually reached in 2004, when the structure was upgraded and statically tested.

The artificial lake ensures the water supply of the entire lower Gallura region, where, especially in the summer season, there is a high demand for water due to the high concentration of tourists.

It is still difficult for many to fully appreciate Sardinia beyond its coastline and sea. Yet the hinterland is magical, of a beauty that is not the envy of the coasts, although it resides in elements other than the clear sea we all know.
To realise this, you do not need to go far, just leave the classic tourist routes and visit, for example, the surroundings of Arzachena. In fact, a stone’s throw from the coast, nestled among the Gallura mountains, we find an authentic jewel of northern Sardinia: Lake Liscia.

A unique landscape in contact with nature
Lake Liscia is an ideal destination for relaxing in contact with nature and offers a thousand opportunities for recreation. Including, of course, the possibility of Black Bass fishing.
Although it is an artificial lake, used to supply water to the lower Gallura region, it is set in a context where thousand-year-old olive trees, oaks and wind-sculpted rocks create enchanting landscapes and unique views.
